=)

I will write my own “Ulysses”
If you’re there to show me how.
Take me back to Glocca Morra,
Bathe me in the River Shannon now.
If you’ll be Mrs. O’Leary,
Baby, I will be your cow.
I’ll deliver shamrocks daily,
Buy your pa a new shillelagh,
I could be in love with someone like...

New Poem. Comments Apre-cia-tate-ed!

Sonic Sympathies and Darklight Dances

Listen to the hearts breaking

On Sandusky and Williams.

The silent scream

Of building dreams

Shattered

Tinkling like glass

On Kristallnacht.

The cold air was the only thing

Holding my hands

As the metallic

Clink-clink-clink

Of my zipper beating

Against my jacket

Against the beating

Of my heart

Filled my ears.

I look at my shadow.

We are both shadows dancing

Around each other

Like the elongated lightless monsters

Dance around a room on fire.

When will the fire die

Allowing us to blend

Into the blackness

Of an unlit room?

Reply to an Eviction Notice

Today I went to a poetry reading by Robert Flanagan who used to be the creative writing director at OWU. It was really cool to hear his stuff and how he was inspired to write his different poems. I really liked his poetry and his style. He's really into form and structure which is nice nowadays cause most people (myself included) are into free verse or loose structure. He was also very good at catching certain feels. Like most of his poems were memories and they really captured the feeling of a memory. I felt like I was remembering it even though they weren't my memories.

The only thing I can say that I didn't like about his poetry was that it was too clear, like after he read it, there was nothing to discuss, which really isn't that bad but it's just not the kind of poetry I find most interesting. My favorite (and what I hope people get from mine) is the kind that you read and you go umm... what did he just say? and then you read it again and you're like okay, now I get it. but then you go back to it a few days later and you make some kind of connection that is just like wow! it makes even more sense now. But then again, I didn't read thru his whole poetry book, maybe he has ones that are like this. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Semper Fi: in a bar in Delaware Ohio on November 10, the USMC birthday. by Robert Flanagan

Oh yeah, you were in the Corps?
See any action? A shooting war?

I had, I said. Oh yeah, where was that?
Toledo, mostly. Coupla times in Detroit.

2 poems on inspired by a wedding.

Congratulations to Scott and Deanna! May you continue to love each other with the same love you felt on Saturday, October 17th, 2009 through the rest of your marriage! =)

Like a Wedding Photographer

I observe the action

Find the best angles

Where does the light make them look best?

(Flash)

The first time their lips meet as Mr. and Mrs. Someone.

(Flash)

The inebriated bodies melting on the dance floor

(Flash)

They slice into the tower of sugar and frosting

(Flash)

The crowd throws a hail-shower of every color petals.

I observe the action

Find the best angles

Where does the light make them look best?

From the Outside Looking In

The sea of bodies churns

Inside the glass tank of a wedding hall.

The dappled lightdrops emanate

From the disco ball and drench the wedding party.

The sporadic streams of light burst

From the cameras and transverse through the glass

Lighting the church courtyard where I sit.

I catch a glimpse of your face

You’re smiling from ear to ear.

Congratulations.

You deserve to be happy.

Haven't been here in awhile

I haven't been on here in awhile but I should keep updating in the case of me being famous one day and having a hit blog haha.

College has been going quite fantastically. I love all my classes (except Intro to Soc.) and theatre life has been going great. I'm really involved in the tech program and I love it. I hope to Master Electrician a show next year. It would be amazing! I love doing lights.

As far as writing, it's been all over the place. I've been writing some mostly poetry lately but I'm still working on shows. The Gospel of America is getting the most work, but I don't know. Entropy: Book 1 seems to have so much complicated stuff to work out and Evolution: Book 2 seems to have a direction but I feel that I don't know enough about London pop culture or average life to write it accurately. ugh annoyance.

I think the reason that I enjoy writing poetry is because it has the instant feel of creative inspiration that sometimes take forever with playwriting.

Lunar Disco

Our feet floating across the floor
of a whirling, wheeling, world.
Rain drops of light flooding our stage
from a starless, cloudless, sky.

Inspiration has struck: a heroin junkie missionary, a plague ridden prophet, and the Gospel of America.

b/w work, rehearsals, writing, and everything else, I have run myself down. The Master of Ceremonies is calling off today. Someone else deal with it. lol.
